Maat" requests from the Military Council a decree to make the sorting inside the sub-committees

Within the framework of Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights to support the process of political participation and work on the integrity of elections and its correctness, the foundation demanded from the military council to issue a to make the sorting in the sub-committees instead of the general committees. This comes within the framework of popular control adopted by the Foundation, which aims to convert the voter to the observer and to make assessment for the electoral process.

Statement No. 1 Maat Foundation concluded its training course for the awareness of voters and the electoral process will start

Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights concluded the training workshops of the popular committees that will follow up the elections of November 28, and 29 in the first phase. These workshops include nine (9) governorates. Maat will follow up this phase in Egypt, Luxor and Alexandria. This follow up comes within the popular control program on elections executed by Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights in the semi renewals of Shura Council in 2010 and also former People's council elections.

Re-Election in the First Round

Maat Foundation for Peace ,Development and Human Rights started Monday, 5/12/2011 at 6:00 am,the run-off for the first round of parliamentary elections in the governorates of Cairo, Alexandria and Luxor, where we followed the electoral process. In Cairo governorate, representatives of elections from Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights monitored the open of all committees at 8:00 am except Committees No. 793 and 794 in Al-Salam City Department due to the theft of ballot papers after a group of thugs smashed the car of a supervising counselor on the committees.

Conclusion of International Observers

Maat Foundation for Peace , Development, Human Rights and Network Elections in the Arab world concluded the training of international bservers who will monitor the elections of Egypt in the second phase in 6 provinces. These provinces are Guiza, Sharkia, Menoufia, Suez, Ismailia, Beni Suef. It is worth mentioning that the network of elections in the Arab world has got 67 licenses to follow-up the statement of the Egyptian elections.

The first hours and even mid-day witnessed continuation of the weak turnout of voters in Cairo, Alexandria and Luxor, which was monitored by Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights to monitor the electoral process. Monitors observe that the commissions were empty of voters as if the committees are looking for voters after the voters were looking for them in the first day of the first round. The main challenge for activities of monitoring on the elections is now a methodological challenge in the first place. Building scientific and quantitative indicators to judge the fairness of the electoral process has become a key requirement of the requirements to develop and expand the scope of civil society organizations’ monitoring on the elections and is a necessary condition to pinpoint the deficiencies and success in the electoral process based on the numbers and percentages, which do not lie and not look beautiful.

Training workshops under “supporting people’s monitoring on general elections “program Training of People's Committees members in Qena and Sharkya

In the framework of Maat’s preparation for monitoring Shura Council elections in 2010, the second and third workshops were held for members of the People's Committees in Qena and Sharkya governorates. The workshop was held in Qena on Saturday, May 22, 2010 in collaboration between Maat Foundation for Peace and Development, Human Rights Association and Upper Egypt Association for Development.
