MAAT mourns Alrouda mosque martyrs and demands the Egyptians to line-up in the confrontation trench
The UN system has to deter the sponsoring countries for terrorism so the world is not left as a yard for brutality
With so much pain, MAAT for Peace, Development and Human Rights followed the ramifications of the savage terror crime targeting Alrouda mosque on the international road, Be’r Elabed, North Sinai, Friday 24 November 2017, resulting in 300 martyrs and more than 100 injured between the worshippers including dozens of children.
The horrendous crime represents aggression on humanity and a stab in all religious and moral considerations, neglecting for human rights, consolidation for brutality in its clearest manifestations, and an extension for the terrorist groups approach in targeting worship houses, religious Islamic and Christian figures, in the framework of their war against the Egyptian people post June 30 revolution, toppling the MB. Where terrorists, violence, extremism and atonement advocates were corrupting and sabotaging, without differentiating between worship houses, check points, civilian institutions, and military ones, all off Egypt was target for the darkness groups.
MAAT presents its condolence and consolation to the Egyptian people, and wishes speed recovery for the injured, the Foundation emphasizes its consolidation with the legal efforts and procedures to be taken to prosecute the perpetrators, achieve fair prosecution, and eliminate their organizational capacity.
In the same time, the Foundation calls the Egyptian people by all their organizations, elites, and political orientations to come together, line-up and hold to national values, for each party to assume their roles in renouncing terrorism, and not to provide any justifications to the horrendous crimes, as well as supporting the procedures to be taken to confront this thematic change in the goals of terrorist groups, as well as the necessity to adopt a comprehensive approach to combat extremism on the security, financial, ideology, and organizational levels, requesting the national council to combat terrorism to prompt declaration of its strategy in combating terrorism and extremism.
MAAT calls the international community and UN system to assume their responsibility in supporting the efforts to combat terrorism and extremism, along with adopting a comprehensive UN strategy resulting in conventions, and security, human rights and economic procedures targeting the deterrence and holding accountable the states offering terrorist groups finances, support, political cover, media portals and safe haven, MAAT ensures that the UN delay in achieving this is leaving the world as a yard for brutality and aggression on human rights.
