Maat is participating in a European program to support community peace and to condemn hate speech and extremism
Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights is participating in a youth program in cooperation with the European Union in Poland. The program is taking place during the period of March 28 to April 4. Hence, the program main theme is condemning violence and extremism and supporting community peace. The program focuses on educating European and Arab youth on the importance of accepting the other. Moreover, it focuses on respecting differences as well as highlighting the importance of values of tolerance for the progress of society. Twenty-two young men and women from the European and Arab region are participating in this program.
Maat’s participation came as the representative of the Egyptian civil society, highlighting tolerance in Egyptian culture since the era of ancient Egyptians, and ways to combat hate speech, especially on social media platforms. Furthermore, Maat’s delegation asserted that civil society has a great responsibility in organizing awareness campaigns to support community peace, condemn violence as well as the intellectual and religious extremism.
It is worth mentioning that this program is within the framework of Maat’s cooperation with the European Union through Erasmus + program to enhance the participation of Egyptian youth in the European youth exchange programs.
