Maat: Israel’s Aggression Against Lebanon Violates the Principle of State Sovereignty
“Israel’s aggression against Lebanon violates the maintenance of international peace and security” Okeil
Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights condemns the Israeli occupying Power’s blatant attack on the sovereignty of the State of Lebanon by attacking the southern suburbs of Beirut by drones loaded with explosive materials and firing flare bombs on several areas near the border strip in Lebanon. As a result, remnants of a bomb were dropped inside the Indian battalion of the United Nations Interim Force in South Lebanon (UNIFIL). Civilians in the border areas resorted to hiding after being attacked.
Ayman Okeil, President of Maat, said that the UN Charter came to safeguard international peace and security, stop the destruction and war, prevent conflicts and maintain peace. Okeil called upon the Security Council to assume its responsibilities under the Charter of the United Nations and to work to stop this conflict immediately, in order to protect civilians.
President of Maat pointed out that these incidents are reminiscent of 2006, when there were military confrontations between the Israeli occupying Power and Hezbollah, which led to the deaths of more than 1,000 civilians.
