The Local- International Joint Mission issues the terrorist crimes monitoring report for the first quarter of the year 2015

1003 terrorist crimes, including 76%, targeting civilians, stages of preparation for the Economic Conference and the opening of candidacy, witnessed the highest rates of terrorist crimes

The Parliamentary Elections Observatory affiliated to the Local –International Joint Mission- Egypt 2015, issued a report to monitor the terrorist crimes during the first quarter of the year 2015 (January-March 2015), including quantitative analysis for the results of the 13 weekly reports were issued by the Observatory in the previous period monitored during all this period.

The report revealed that the first quarter o the year2015witnessed 1003 various terrorist crimes, and by time context analysis of these crimes, and the nature of its targets, the report concluded these facts:

1- The 9th week from 6th to 12th March witnessed the largest rate of the terrorist incidents by(18%), it was the week right before holding the Economic conference in Sharm El Sheikh, also the weeks witnessed opening the candidacy door for Parliamentary elections, holding the Economic conference, close the candidacy door for the Parliamentary elections, conclusion of the preparations for the Arab summit , the weeks witnessed these events also witnessed a high rate of violent and terrorist incidents by (11% from the total terrorist incidents in every week).

2- The weeks coincided with holding the Economic conference and opening the candidacy door were witnessed the maximum geographical spread of the violent and terrorist incidents(20 -21governorate).

3- The most of the terrorist crimes targeted civilians and civilian facilities, by 76% for 24% or targeting police and military targets, the maximum rate of targeting civil targets( citizens – facilities – non military facilities) in the concurrent weeks with holding the Economic conference and opening the candidacy door,( 82%- 83%).

4- The weeks coinciding with the opening of the door for candidacy for the parliamentary elections witnessed the largest rates of targeting citizens' gatherings by terrorist groups with rates ranging between (50-52%)

5- The fourth week coinciding with the commemoration of the 25 January 2011 revolution witnessed the highest targeting of public facilities and services (41%).

6- The first and second weeks of 2015 witnessed the highest rate of targeting of the armed forces and police and their installations, with rates ranging between 46-47% of the total number of incidents.

7- The tenth week coinciding with the conclusion of the preparations for the economic conference witnessed the largest targeting rates for universities and schools (10% of the total events during the same week)

8- The week coincided with the memory of the 25th January 2011 revolution, witnessed the highest rate of targeting Courts and Judges by (9% from all the violent incidents in the same week).

9- The 1st week the concurrent with Christmas witnessed the highest rate of targeting worship places (15% from all the violent incidents in the same week).

10- The 2ed week of the year (8-15 January) and the 11th week the concurrent with Economic conference have witnessed the highest rate of targeting Investment and economic installations with rates between 5-6% from all the violent incidents in the same weeks.
