The Egyptian organizations signatories to this statement express their deep concern about the behavior of the Qatari authorities regarding the enforced disappearance of some employees of the International Network for Rights and Development while carrying out a human rights mission for the purpose of following up a report on employment in Qatar.
According to the information available, the human rights activist (Krishna Prasad Ubadia) who works as a researcher in the main office of the International Network for Rights and Development and his fellow photographer (Jeremy Gundev) have been subjected to harassment and persecution by the Qatari police, so only the international network asked them to leave Qatar immediately for their safety, but the staff disappeared They are on their way to the airport.
The organizations signatories to this statement express their grave concern about the restrictions imposed by the Qatari authorities on human rights defenders, and the blackout they are keen on with regard to the issues of foreign workers, which have multiple evidence of severe human rights violations.
The organizations also express their strong condemnation of the Qatari authorities ’abandonment of their responsibility to protect human rights defenders on their soil, and demand a transparent and impartial investigation into the circumstances of this disappearance and the involvement of parties from the Qatari authority in it.
The signatory organizations also call on the UN agencies and regional and international institutions to pressure the Qatari authorities to find out the fate of the network’s employees
