Maat Foundation for Peace condemns Development and Human Rights #_the military coup in Mali, the detention of President Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and other senior officials, and forcing the president to resign.

The Foundation believes that this increases the complexity of the stalled political process in # Mali, and puts civil and political rights in the country on the line in the coming period.

Maat Foundation demands the release of the president and the detained officials. And work to restore constitutional order again. The Foundation also recommends the necessity of pursuing political solutions through negotiation mechanisms led by a civilian under the auspices of # African Union and # ECOWAS Economic Community of West African States.
