A humanitarian disaster at Al Mamoura Hospital for Psychiatric and Neurological Diseases
Maat calls on the executive bodies to immediately intervene to save the hospital, its inmates, and its workers
Maat Foundation expresses its solidarity with the citizens of Alexandria Governorate as they suffer against the backdrop of the bad weather wave that largely revealed the failure and corruption of the system responsible for sanitation services in the governorate.
In this context, the Foundation draws attention to what the psychiatric and neurological hospital suffers from in al-Maamoura, as we received complaints from the hospital’s staff and the families of the inmates stating that the wastewater covers the hospital to a level of more than 40 cm for a period of three days and without serious interference from officials.
The photos that we received from the complainants indicate very poor conditions in the hospital, which are conditions, although they are a direct result of the wave of bad weather, but they are rooted in the severe negligence in the maintenance of the hospital facilities, and the poor state of the infrastructure in the surrounding area.
The Foundation calls on the executive bodies in Alexandria governorate to immediately intervene to save the hospital, its workers and inmates, and calls for the need to make sufficient investments to repair the hospital infrastructure and the surrounding area.[foogallery id = ”18572 ″]
