Maat Participates in the Work of the 46th Session of the Human Rights Council

On its third day of the 46th session, the Human Rights Council continued by receiving the interventions of the High-Level Segment, which was followed by an interactive dialogue session with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Ms. Michelle Bachelet, about her oral report on the situation in the occupied Palestinian territories.

During the session, Maat presented a written intervention, which was largely consistent with the contents of the High Commissioner's report on:

  1. The Necessity of Coordinated International Pressure on Israel to Abide by the Provisions of the Geneva Convention
  2. The speedy classification of Israel's violations as war crimes according to the Rome Convention, and in line with the recent declaration by the International Criminal Court of its jurisdiction over the State of Palestine
  3. The need for the Security Council to intervene to put an end to the ongoing violations and crimes in the occupied territories
  4. The need for UN agencies to intervene to address cases of medical negligence in Palestine
