The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development issued by the United Nations

The United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda addresses 17 goals; It covers most of the life matters that concern any country from any part of the world, from which African countries are inseparable.

To review the implementation of these goals, African countries voluntarily submit a report to the high-level political forum of the United Nations, in which they list the goals and objectives of the development agenda.

Civil society is not excluded from implementing this agenda, but rather participates in its implementation and evaluation. And that by dividing the world into major groups of non-governmental organizations. The African civil society is represented in the group of NGOs in Africa. It is worth noting that Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights is the regional coordinator for the North African region in the group, and it also hosts its technical secretariat.

It is also noteworthy that the theme for the year 2020 is: “Accelerated Action and Transformative Paths: Realizing the Contract of Action to Reach Sustainable Development.”
