Last Friday, the United Nations Security Council adopted a resolution to renew the arms embargo imposed on the Central African Republic until July 31, 2020. In order to serve the sixteenth goal of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, and the aspiration for a safe and secure Africa at the heart of the African Union's agenda 2063, under the slogan of the year 2020 “ Silencing the guns. ”

It is worth noting that the human rights situation in Central Africa is closely related to the deterioration of the security situation, which necessarily entailed the presence of an independent expert on the situation of human rights in the Central African Republic.

Maat Foundation would like to emphasize that the opportunity is available to reach a real and sustainable peace, through a peaceful consensus based on raising the voice of peace, not the sound of weapons.
