The human rights situation in the state of Eritrea

Concerning: Item 4: Report of the Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Eritrea (Resolution HRC 35/35)

Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights (Egypt) presents this report to clarify the most important observations about the human rights situation in the state of Eritrea, which witnesses interference by some countries in its internal affairs, which constitutes an attack on the sovereignty and independence of the state and a violation of the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other countries, which It is stipulated by international law, as well as the negative impact of these interventions on the state's ability to fulfill its human rights obligations.

This intervention coincided with the Eritrean government’s slowdown in easing restrictions on basic freedoms in the country, restrictions on activists and political opponents, and restrictions on peaceful protests, in addition to restrictions imposed on freedom of expression, association and political parties.
