Statistics on those affected by the recent Sudan floods

The number of people affected by the floods resulting from the torrential rains that fell last week in several areas of # Sudan reached at least 50,000 people.

The torrential rains have caused floods, landslides and damage to homes and infrastructure in 14 of the country's 18 states. The # floods killed five people and destroyed around 3,500 homes. The # dam in Blue Nile State collapsed, destroying hundreds of homes.

And usually strong rains in Sudan during June and October, and the country annually faces widespread floods. The torrential rains last year, 2019, affected 400,000 people.

The Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights recommends more humanitarian support for those affected by these floods. And work to avoid the occurrence of such repercussions in the next year, and to take all necessary precautions for that as possible.
