political factions… Between modernization and freezing

The second of a series of seminars (political parties between renewal and freezing) was held at the headquarters of Maat Center for Legal and Constitutional Studies, which was attended by Mr. Mamdouh Kenawy (Chairman of the Free Social Constitutional Party) and Eng. Ahmed Abdel Rahman, and he apologized for the attendance Mr. Hussein Abdel-Razek (Secretary General Pool party).

The symposium discussed the obstacles to party work in Egypt and party pluralism, and Professor (Kenawy) said that a club cannot manipulate itself and therefore the National Party cannot be alone. To the parties and their participation in political life such as their football affiliations.

He said that the parties are working within their available capabilities despite the security and media blockade, and that after the presidential elections, a party leader cannot appear in the government media. And that party life in Egypt has entered a dark tunnel, and that the current pluralism is a formal, paper, decorative, and caricatured pluralism, and that the parties (breathe steam from the party)

He criticized the formation of the shadow government by the rest of the parties, as it does not represent a real opposition in parliament, as the number of MPs from the opposition parties is only nine, while the Brotherhood has 88 members.

In response to the audience’s questions, in which they accused the parties, including the Constitutional Party, of having emerged from under the cloak of the National Party and with the approval of the regime. The parties could not disagree with the regime, with the exception of the Wafd Party and the Nasserite Party. He criticized the running of some parties in the presidential elections, which he compared to a farce.

(Kenawy) replied that the Constitutional Party did not make concessions and that it came to the judiciary, but the Parties Affairs Committee wanted to say that there is democracy and agreed to establish the Constitutional Party and the Tomorrow Party and denied that the establishment of the party was the result of a deal with someone and that it waged a political and not an electoral battle, during which it published Party principles.

The engineer / Ahmed Abdel-Rahman, who accused the regime of violating the constitution, which he swore to and denied that there is true democracy. And that political parties do not have a presence in the Egyptian street, and that the parties are politically dying, the regime has lost its legitimacy and called for the existence of wide popular movements.

Ayman Aqeel said that the Egyptian political parties, including the National Party, are restructuring their internal system, members and cadres after the results of the parliamentary elections, but the parties must first solve their internal problems and work to achieve their functions and reach the public and end the differences and conflicts because the opposition parties It is either frozen or has internal struggles over leadership and the presidency. The Constitutional Party called for attention to the youth and women and work to attract members, and this is what Professor Kenawy confirmed that they have started working in the governorates.
