Today … the official launching of the joint mission to observe the Egyptian Parliamentary Elections 2020

Seven international organizations are observing the Parliamentary elections And ask Maat to coordinate the mission’s work

Okeil: The joint mission is distinguished by its diverse expertise that includes African, European and Middle Eastern organizations

 

With that interest, seven international organizations of different nationalities, form a joint mission to observe the Egyptian Parliament elections 2020 and choose Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights to be the local partner to coordinate the mission’s work.

After several meetings and consultations among the members of the mission, all preliminary procedures for the formation of the mission were completed. Thus, the official announcement of the joint mission to observe the Egyptian Parliamentary Elections 2020 was agreed.

In this context, Maat association began to explain the Egyptian electoral system and organizing laws to the members of the mission. Furthermore, Maat will continue to hold several training sessions through ZOOM online program until the arrival of the mission members in the last week of October. The international organizations have also agreed with Maat to observe all stages of the electoral process, including the registration and advertising stages and the re-election stages. That is in order to prepare a comprehensive and adequate report to be issued in accordance with international standards for the free and fair of elections at the end of the process.

It is worth noting that the biggest challenge facing the arrival of the mission was the (Covid-19) epidemic. The members of the mission had many questions about the precautionary measures that will be followed from their arrival at Cairo airport until their return to their countries, which is what Maat’s team explained in detail to reassure taking all precautionary measures into consideration.

2. Entrepreneurship and Social Economy Group (EKO)

3. Zemus Association

4- Elizka Relief Foundation

5- Gals International Forum

6- Africa Platform

7- The Uganda National NGO forum

And, the main local partner is Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights.

Ayman Okeil, the General Director of Maat, confirmed that this mission is the largest and the most numerous, which includes a group of diverse experiences in following up the elections in more than one country. He also indicated that Maat will contact a group of local organizations that have permits to observe the elections and who are known for their competence, impartiality and integrity to accompany the members of the mission during the observation process. As well as, to communicate with the main operations room of the mission, which will remain in a permanent session until the election results are announced.
