The Daily Message for the International-Local Mission to Observe the Parliamentary Elections

The Local - International Joint Mission continued its follow up to Egypt's parliamentary elections which still in the candidacy application submission phase, Where the submission period was extended until 15th September instead of 12th September, in terms of the positive dealing of the High Committee overseeing the elections with the recent provisions of the Egyptian administrative court.

The constituencies' officials affiliated to the Local - International Joint Mission noted during yesterday, a lull in the number of applicants as the number of applicants until yesterday to 4532 compared to 4385 the day before yesterday, with an increase of 147 candidates. For example, Giza Prime court did not record a single candidate to submit his papers yesterday, while the candidates' influx of medical boards to re-medical examination was monitored.

The Mission also monitored, yesterday, the continued early publicity by candidates in almost all the provinces, whether through banners and prints propaganda, visits and meetings, or through various, means of social communication.

The Mission observed some candidates visiting government facilities and public hospitals, institutions, civil associations, and use their photos with the officials in the election campaign to give confidence to voters that the candidate can communicate with the executives within the province, especially in provinces such as Menoufya, Dakahlia and Sharkia. you can follow-up examples of these facts on the following links

In general, the Mission did not monitor any feasible violations by the electoral process management or by the government authorities, so far. And did not receive complaints related to illegal intransigence in receiving candidacy applications from lists, individuals or parties. On the opposite side, the electoral activity of the parties is still limited and discreet, which clearly appears in the inability of most of them, to form complete electoral lists until yesterday.
