Extrajudicial killing ... the Houthi method of intimidation

Aqeel: The Iranian regime continues to kill citizens on the basis of identity

In an intervention before the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, and within the activities of the 41st session held during the current month of June and continuing until next July 12, the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights reviewed the violations committed by the Houthi militia supported by the Iranian regime against the Yemeni citizens, which reached a point Assassination and extrajudicial killing.

The intervention clarified that the various stages of the conflict in Yemen have accompanied violations of international human rights law and international humanitarian law by the Houthi militia, as incidents of extrajudicial killings and arbitrary executions spread, and assassinations constituted one of the most serious sources of violation of the right to life. Since the beginning of the conflict in Yemen, the militia has carried out a number of assassinations in areas resisting its military control, as it continues to target citizens, politicians, media professionals, human rights defenders and mosque preachers.

For his part, Ayman Aqil, head of Maat Foundation, said that the Iranian regime continues to kill outside the law on the basis of identity. The trials are unfair, and there are no independent mechanisms to ensure accountability within the judiciary, especially since judges are appointed on the basis of their political opinions and their affiliations with the Revolutionary Guard.
