A written intervention submitted by Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights regarding restrictions imposed on freedom of opinion and expression in Turkey

offered to me: 41st session of the Human Rights Council

about: Item 3 on the report of the Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of the right to freedom of opinion and expression (Human Rights Council Resolution 34/18)

Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights (Egypt) condemns the Turkish authorities' continued restrictions and restrictions imposed on the right to freedom of opinion and expression, as this right in particular has become a real disaster in light of the ongoing harassment and violations committed by the administration of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on all activists And opponents and journalists. Which is contrary to international norms and conventions[1]And especially Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights. Violations include restrictions on public freedoms and the issuance of laws that restrict freedom of opinion and expression, attacks on journalists, writers, academics, and critics, prosecution and imprisonment of all of them, in addition to blocking websites, and imprisoning bloggers and activists.
