Participation as a Way of Life .... Maat's Logo during the Third Camp for Integration and Rehabilitation at Abu Qir

In the Youth City, Abu Qir - Alexandria as part of its efforts to reintegrate and rehabilitate marginalized groups in Egyptian society, Maat for Peace Development and Human Rights continued the implementation of the activities of the project "Integrated Protection for the Families of Prisoners and Detainees - Integration and Rehabilitation", implemented with the support of the Swiss Foundation Drosos.
The Foundation organized an educational camp for children from (Imbaba - Boulaq ElDakrour - Atfeeh - Khalifa - Basateen and Dar El Salaam - Helwan and Maasara) with participation of a number of social workers, psychologists, and the project team.
The camp targeted 58 students in the age group 14 to18 years old, and was carried out over 3 days with the participation of students from families of prisoners and detainees and students from ordinary families in order to break the psychological barriers and to integrate and empower students of families of prisoners from engaging in community activities.

Children participated in the training sessions, which they participated in their planning before the camp during pre-camping implemented sessions in their local areas targeted by the project , which mostly included social and personal skills, sports competitions and art performances.
The daily assessment planned by the camp to give children more space for participation and responsibility in the management and implementation of the camp and its components witnessed interaction between the children, supervisors, trainers and social workers which is reflected in the program arrangement and adjustment of its activities also by participation.
The camp organized free tours to learn about Alexandria sights including visiting (Qaitbay Citadel - Aquarium - and the Museum of Stuffed fish ) the children expressed that they ( did not know anything about their country ) after the sightseeing.
The camp included intensified individual social support and counseling sessions, as well as group sessions for the children, most of these sessions were about confidence building , anger management , ambition and hope.
The social support and psychological counseling sessions also witnessed an intense effort during the camp, with individual cases and group discussion sessions for children. Most of these sessions were about building confidence, anger management, ambition and hope.
This camp has seen the strongest binge yet where children were creative with the participation of supervisors and trainers, they were involved in scout songs, scout dances, comic sketches and single singing, on a daily basis during the camp groups competitions and peaked in the closing ceremony.
In conclusion Maat invite all the community to adopt the children of prisoners issues to achieve social solidarity and reintegration to society again.
