Small Projects are a Ray of Hope for Prisoners Families

Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights concluded its third two-days workshop entitled "Small projects are a ray of hope" on the small projects management and how to obtain loans for 17 beneficiaries of prisoners in Al-Barmeel dstrict, Atfeeh center, Giza governorate.
The training workshop on projects management is considered one of the activities of the integrated protection for the families of prisoners and detainees "Integration and Rehabilitation" project implemented by Maat foundation and funded by the Swiss foundation Drosos. The project seeks to improve the economic, social and legal conditions for prisoners and detainees families in 6 districts in Cairo and Giza.
Through the training workshops during the lifetime of the project, 90 training opportunities will be provided on how to obtain a loan and manage a small project for the families of prisoners and detainees in the framework of other project services to benefit over 2200 members of those families.

The training also included a number of concepts and knowledge such as identification of the projects, its importance, the project lifetime, as well as some skills including planning, marketing and budgets preparation.

The trainer also presented and discussed with the trainees the importance of including significant points in the project proposal before submitting it to the donor agencies as follows; (the project's area, the project manager, employment, cost, machines, materials, market, and capital).

The trainer also presented a practical application for the techniques of writing the funding contract with the donor agencies for the micro-finances, he also indicated the significance of reading and writing the funding applications. The trainer warned the trainees of signing a blank paper in their life and legal transactions.

The training workshop put a number of ideas for practical practice on planning and managing projects through working groups, where each working group worked on a project idea such as (groceries, frozen food, cloth manufacturing and chicken shops projects).

Each working group presented their project objectives, needs assessment, budget identification, roles distribution for the project participants, defining the project period for the project launch, and defining the challenges facing the project and how to overcome them.
Each working group also presented their implementation plan as a practical training for projects management in line with the main objective of the practical training to consolidate the concept of the project's good planning as one of the guarantees to limit the risks threatening the project and the fact that good management is the first step to achieve success and sustainability.

Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights calls the working institutions in micro-financing to support those projects and to contribute to the improvement of the economic opportunities for the families of prisoners in the community to be able to consolidate with them to improve their income and bring them back to the community as productive and efficient parties.
