High Level Political Forum 2020

It is a forum for reviewing the extent to which the sustainable development goals have been achieved, held under the auspices of the United Nations Economic and Social Council, and it will be held this year from 7 July to 16 July 2020.

Each year the forum focuses on a number of sustainable development goals from the 2030 Agenda. The theme this year will be 'Accelerated Action and Transformative Paths: Achieving the Contract of Action and Achieving Sustainable Development'‘.

Every year, since the forum was established, a number of countries have submitted voluntary reports on their sustainable development goals. In 2020, 50 countries will present their Voluntary National Reviews; Of these, 15 African countries have announced their accession to the forum to date, and they are: Benin, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, The Gambia, Kenya, Liberia, Libya, Malawi, Morocco, Mozambique, Niger, Nigeria, Seychelles, Uganda, Zambia, and Zimbabwe..

Civil society can participate in the forum, and it is worth noting the participation of the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights in the activities of the forum for the years 2018-2019, as it is the North African coordinator in the group of major NGOs for Africa..
