Calls for the Political Authorities in Egypt to Respect the Rights to Protest and Respond to the Protesters Demands by Arab Organizations

Within the framework of their awareness of Egypt's pivotal role in the Arab region and its great inspiring people, the signing Arab Organizations on this statement follow the escalating events in Egypt on the backdrop of the recent peaceful popular protests in the country.

The signing Organizations express their deep concerns towards the violence against peaceful protesters in several cities, those violations were documented by media and Organizations in Egypt, which indicates that supporter organizations to the political regime in Egypt violate the Egyptian people's right to protest and express their opinion peacefully.

It is noteworthy that the post January revolution democratic transition process resulted from the people's persistence to commit to their right in peaceful protesting, thus, the completion of this transition won't be accomplished unless the political authority in Egypt guaranteed this right, especially when the state has all ready ratified the relevant international conventions, and the latter became part of the state national legislations.

The signing Organizations on this statement applaud the Armed Forces and the Police for their stance of the demonstrations and popular protests, when Organizations call them to take positive steps to prevent the violence against protesters by illegitimate powers, to guarantee their safety, and to bring those who committed crimes in the protestors' right to justice.

The signing Organizations call the Head of State and the government to take urgent and efficient political measures to respond to the protestors' demands, considering the unprecedented protesters' numbers according to media and local Organizations which reached 14 million protesters, it's unreasonable to ignore their demands and permit the events to escalate and reach violence and chaos.

The signing Organizations urge the Arab, regional and international Organizations to address the Egyptian government to urge them to respect the protesters' right to express their demands and to take the required measures to respond to them.
