Today, the Human Rights Council resumes its forty-third session after being suspended as a preventive measure to counter the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus.

 

Today, the United Nations Human Rights Council opens its resumed forty-third regular session, which was suspended on March 13 due to the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus, and the work of the resumed session continues from 15 to 19 June at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights is involved In the work of the resumed session, where the Council will hold general discussions about its work on Article 5 on human rights bodies and mechanisms, Article 6 on the periodic review mechanism, and Article 7 on the human rights situation in Palestine and the other occupied Arab territories.

 

 

 

 

Since the suspension of the forty-third session on March 13, the Council has held several virtual informal discussions, including a session held on April 9 with the High Commissioner for Human Rights, which focused on the effects of the Covid-19 crisis on human rights around the world, and another gathering of representatives of the Coordination Committee. Special Procedures mandate holders on April 30 for a discussion centering on the action taken by special procedures mandate holders in the context of the COVID-19 outbreak.
