Maat wins the elections for the presidency of the Egyptian National Network for the Anna Lindh Foundation

For the second time in a row, members of the Egyptian national network of the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures re-elected the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights as its president for a second term beginning in June 2015 and ending in June 2017.
The Egyptian Network, which includes 181 organizations from various governorates of Egypt, held the network’s presidency elections on Saturday morning, June 6, 2015, under the supervision of a five-year committee formed by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures (an international institution), in addition to three members representing The elected board of trustees of the Egyptian National Network, and the elections ended with the Maat Foundation winning an overwhelming majority approaching 95% of the network’s members ’votes.
The Maat Foundation had elected the network’s president from June 2013 to June 2015, and the Foundation nominated itself for a second term based on the successes it achieved during its first term, most notably in expanding the network’s membership and creating effective frameworks for partnership among its members. Maat was nominated for an ambitious electoral program that won the confidence of the network’s members in an exemplary democratic atmosphere.
It is worth noting that the Anna Lindh Foundation, which operates in 42 member states of the Union for the Mediterranean, and Egypt hosts its headquarters in the Library of Alexandria and the Swedish Institute, is an international institution concerned with promoting intercultural dialogue in this region through a network of community organizations in each country. The 42 networks of the Anna Lindh Foundation are approximately 4,000 civil society organizations.
Ayman Akil, President of the Maat Foundation and the coordinator of the Egyptian National Network for the Anna Lindh Foundation for the Dialogue of Cultures, stated that during its new presidency, Maat will seek to provide a wide space for partnership opportunities between members of the network within and outside the scope of the Anna Lindh Foundation, and to facilitate partnership opportunities with members of other networks in the member states of the Anna Lindh Foundation Anna Lindh, building the capacity of member organizations through holding specialized training workshops, and enhancing the members' access to travel and volunteering opportunities within the Anna Lindh Foundation.
It is noteworthy that the Maat Foundation was established in 2005 and this year celebrates ten years of its work in the field of promoting human rights and development at the national and regional levels.
