Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights met with a delegation from the Child Protection Committee of the Councils and Conferences Department in Dar Al-Salam neighborhood, and the committee presented what it had accomplished during the fiscal year 2014-2015 to the Foundation's management and requested the Foundation to coordinate some issues related to dropout from education and the defense of the child.

In the same context, Ayman Aqil, President of Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights stated that the Foundation joined the membership of the Child Protection Committee at the request of the committee members and stated that the Foundation will work hard in this file to reach real protection for the Egyptian child in light of the charters, treaties and pledges of the universal periodic review. Which was pledged by Egypt in March of 2015 before the Human Rights Council in Geneva.

In the same context, Aqeel added that he assigned the Foundation's Policy Analysis Unit to review child protection laws and Law 126 of 2008 regarding amending some provisions of the Child Law promulgated by Law No. 12 of 1996 and the Penal Code promulgated by Law No. 58 of 1937 and Law No. 143 of 1994 regarding civil status. This is in order to reveal whether or not they are compatible with the circumstances and changes that occurred during the years following its promulgation under the new Egyptian constitution, as well as harmonizing laws with international charters and treaties.

Aqeel indicated that the Maat Foundation seeks, from behind this work, the stability of the Egyptian state and assistance in raising it and its progress in light of the challenges it faces during the current stage.
