Within its efforts seeking to reintegrate and rehabilitate prisoners and detainees families in the Egyptian society, Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights continued implementing the activities of "Integrated Protection for the Families of Prisoners and Detainees - Integration and Rehabilitation" project implemented in cooperation with the Swiss foundation Drosos.
The foundation organized another entertainment and educational trip for prisoners and detainees children in Khalifa district, Cairo on Saturday, June 1st, 2013.
The trips seek to gather both the target group and natural children to spend a whole day in the nature, along with preparing an educational and entertaining program by psychologists and social workers aiming to build positive relations between the children through group activities and interactive games where the kids work together and share the artistic activities.
The trip program was initiated by printing on bags when every child painted his drawings on his bag, the trip program also included psychosocial sessions which adopted the "psychodrama" approach through selecting a group of children in addition to two separate children, one to express his approval to the group and the other to express his disapproval to the same group, along with indicating their reasons, the sessions resulted in a conclusion not to prejudge others before dealing with them, along with instilling self-confidence between them.
The trip included another activity entitled "a confrontation for solution" through selecting the children who argued during the day and confronting them face to face after tackling the situation and addressing their attitudes, which ended by a mutual apology.
Those activities contributed to the creation of a state of communication, positive behavior, and renounce violence between the children. By the end of the day, a set of positive values were established including group work, communication, self-confidence, dealing with the issues, honesty, integrity, and integration in the society.
It's worth mentioning that natural leaders, psychologists, social workers, and the project team participated in the trip, the latter adopted "We Rise through Positivity" as the trip slogan.
