Pasha: "We have not yet received a response to the killing of the Palestinian citizen Zaki Mubarak in Turkish prisons."

Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights emphasized, in its oral intervention before the Human Rights Council, the need to guarantee the right to life in accordance with international conventions, within the fifth item on human rights bodies, referring in the intervention to the cases of Khashoggi and Zaki Mubarak.

The intervention touched on the condemnation of the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi and the request of the Saudi government to complete the investigation of the case. It also demanded the Turkish government to disclose the evidence and documents under its hands in order to uncover the truth and hold those responsible accountable.

On the other hand, Abdul Rahman Pasha, a researcher at the Maat Foundation, called for the necessity to investigate the incident of the killing of Palestinian citizen Zaki Mubarak in Turkish prisons, which the Turkish authorities claimed that he committed suicide, at a time when his family claims that he was killed as a result of torture, after the forensic report proves the presence of traces of wounds On his body.

In the oral intervention, Basha said that the Maat Foundation had submitted a complaint to the Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial killing, and the foundation has not received a response yet. He called on the Turkish government to provide all information transparently in order to reach the truth in the killing of Zaki Mubarak.

It is worth noting that the Maat Foundation participates in the work of the 41st session of the Council’s work with an international mission consisting of 26 individuals from 8 European and African countries. The Maat Foundation also holds a number of seminars and meetings on the sidelines of the session.
