Within the framework of the International Alliance for Peace and Development, the Assyrian Observatory for Human Rights and the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights signed a joint cooperation protocol for the purpose of coordination and cooperation in the field of providing support, assistance and capacity building related to working with the international and regional mechanisms related to human rights. The protocol comes in light of the integration of experiences between the observatory and the institution, on Monday, October 17, 2017. The protocol provides for the cooperation of the two parties in implementing national, regional and international programs related to training, providing technical support and advice, and establishing and sponsoring activities and events of specialization, as it extends To work between the two parties in the field of international commitments related to sustainable development goals. The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Maat Foundation, Professor Ayman Aqeel, stated that this joint protocol with the Assyrian Observatory comes within the framework of the steps towards establishing and managing the “International Alliance for Peace and Development” that the Foundation launched in it more than 24 civil society institutions spread all over the world. It would enhance cooperation and full coordination and joint action between civil society organizations in various countries in order to contribute to the achievement of peace and development and to reconsider the human rights values agreed upon by the world and approved by the international system. For his part, the director of the Assyrian Observatory for Human Rights, Jamil Diyarbakirli, stressed the importance of this cooperation, considering it a step in the right direction, which will be followed in the near future by practical steps that are reflected in the establishment of joint activities in a number of countries in the Middle East. Diyarbakirli pointed to the need of the world today, and specifically the Middle East region, to spread a culture of peace among people, because peace is the effective weapon against intolerance, against violence, against hatred and hatred, against sectarianism, and against terrorism, leading to building safe and democratic countries that accommodate all. It is worth noting that the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights, based in the Arab Republic of Egypt, has a consultative status in the United Nations Economic and Social Council.
