From Sunday 19 March to Saturday 25 March 2017, a representative delegation of the Alliance of Civil Society Organizations for the Universal Periodic Review will visit Geneva to participate in the activities of the 34th session of the United Nations Human Rights Council, where the delegation will hold several meetings with senior officials of the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights and the missions The official council member states address human rights issues in Egypt in light of recommendations accepted by the Egyptian government during its submission to the universal periodic review mechanism (November 2014 - March 2015)

 The delegation's visit will also witness the launch of the first report to assess the human rights situation in Egypt in light of the recommendations of the universal periodic review, which covers the period from March 2015 until the end of January 2017, during the symposium that the coalition delegation will hold on March 23, 2017 at the United Nations headquarters and in the presence of the media and some officials of the state missions Members, UN officials, and officials of international NGOs.

It is worth noting that the Egyptian Civil Society Organizations Coalition was established as an independent entity in May 2016 as an output of the UPR project as a tool to improve public policies during the transitional phase supported by the European Union, and the coalition is managed through a board of trustees elected directly from among the member NGOs, and the coalition includes 229 An Egyptian civil society organization from various governorates, covering all aspects of human rights work.

The coalition had prepared its report on the assessment of the human rights situation in Egypt in light of the recommendations of the universal periodic review through a participatory mechanism managed by a specialized technical committee, and the board of trustees of the coalition approved the report and approved the formation of the delegation participating in the 34th session of the Human Rights Council, consisting of five leaders and officials of organizations Members, he decided to launch the report - for the first time - during the delegation's current visit to Geneva
