Demonstrations without violence and a professional conscience are absent in media outlets in support of terrorism

The state should adopt a comprehensive strategy to improve the human rights situation

Over the past two weeks, Egypt has witnessed a state of political tension and attractiveness against the background of a call by some persons affiliated with the opposition to demonstrate and demand the overthrow of the regime, matched by calls for other forces and personalities to demonstrate in support of the established regime and the President of the Republic, and the course of reality indicates that the state of mobility that these calls brought about was witnessing The momentum on social media and traditional media is much greater than the momentum it created on the ground, as its resonance on the street seemed limited.

Some human rights organizations interacted with that case and issued statements, and the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights issued a press statement criticizing the arrest of some people in connection with the call to demonstrate, which was responded to by the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs with a statement criticizing the commission's reliance on inaccurate data according to the description of the ministry, as well as the deputy The Egyptian public issued an official statement stating that about 1,000 people were arrested for inciting against the state and violating the protest law.

Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights affirms that the right to demonstrate must remain guaranteed in accordance with international conventions ratified by Egypt, and in accordance with the governing rules contained in the law organizing public demonstrations and processions promulgated in 2013, and would like to point out some points that summarize its position on The current situation and its circumstances: -

1- Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights appreciates the keenness of the various parties (opponents, supporters, and security forces) not to be drawn into violence and to engage in a peaceful framework in a way that has not been witnessed in many of the demonstrations that have taken place in Egypt since 2011, as none of the concerned human rights organizations have registered nor revealed Official statements about cases of violence witnessed by the demonstrations or calling for them, and the Foundation calls for the need to adhere to this approach regardless of the size and motives of the protest process.

2- Maat stresses the need to differentiate between expressing opinion and opposing existing policies without subjecting any kind of punishment on the one hand, and between the desire of regional powers and extremist groups that practice and support terrorism and exploit freedom of opinion, expression and assembly to bring Egypt into a state of instability and implement agendas that do not target the interest of the citizen and the homeland. On the other hand, the Foundation refers in this context to the unprofessional and dishonest practices carried out by media outlets supported by the countries of Qatar and Turkey, such as the Al-Jazeera channel and the Muslim Brotherhood channels that broadcast from Turkey in dealing with demonstrations in a manner that is shrouded in lies, fabrication, and bypassing facts, incitement and excitement that are inconsistent with Data and developments on the ground.

3- Maat Foundation calls on the international bodies concerned with human rights and international human rights organizations the necessity of upholding the value of professionalism and methodology in monitoring and following up the human rights and political situation in Egypt, broadening the basis for consultation with the concerned parties and engaging in a serious and open dialogue related to assessing the dimensions and aspects of the Egyptian human rights situation and helping to support reforms that balance The right of citizens to live in a stable environment and enjoy the package of economic, social and security rights guaranteed on the one hand, and to move gradually towards a shift in the climate of political rights and freedoms on the other hand, and to adhere to the requirements and requirements of confronting terrorism, violence and extremism and the passive employment of regional powers and states that support terrorism for the parties to the political equation in creating A state of chaos from a third side.

4- Maat Foundation calls on the Public Prosecution Office to promptly conduct investigations and release all those who prove not to have committed any criminal acts in accordance with the penal code and do not represent a prohibition for state institutions and public authorities from practicing their work, harming national unity and social peace, or inciting violence.

5At the same time, Maat Foundation calls on the Egyptian state institutions to adopt an integrated strategy to improve the human rights situation based on the popular stock that these institutions still possess, and to benefit from the data of the state of security stability and economic growth that have been achieved during the past five years, provided that this strategy is consistent with the commitments On the one hand, it takes into account the sensitivity of the regional situation and the unethical practices of the practitioners and supporters of terrorism at home and abroad, and that this strategy is open to the national forces supporting and opposition, whether in the sectors of parties, political and union forces, or sectors of civil society and human rights organizations.

6- In the end, Maat Foundation calls on the international community to take a decisive stand against the countries that support and sponsor terrorism (Qatar and Turkey) and aim to destabilize Egypt, and it calls upon youth to carry out sabotage actions against their countries and leave them to punish them according to the law.
