Held Eastern Youth Society for Development In the presence of an institution , Maat for Peace, Development, and Human RightsToday, Tuesday morning, an introductory seminar for the UPR for 175 male and female students of the third year of the Faculty of Arts, Zagazig University.

The meeting comes as part of efforts Egyptian Civil Society Organizations Alliance for the Universal Periodic Review To enhance the effective participation of young people in public life, the alliance includes in its membership 229 Egyptian NGOs working in different sectors and geographical areas.

Where the meeting discussed human rights and their characteristics, international mechanisms for the protection of human rights, the nature, nature, stages and results of the universal periodic review, the role of the mechanism in assisting governments to fulfill human rights, including international obligations and commitments, project efforts The Universal Periodic Review as a Tool to Improve Public Policies during the TransitionIn building the capacities of a leading group of cadres of civil organizations, media professionals and activists on the international mechanism, and the efforts of the coalition in following up the implementation of the recommendations of the second session of the UPR and the achievements of the member organizations on the ground to improve the human rights situation through communication with government officials, parliamentarians, By presenting policy and legislative proposals in the form of appeals, draft laws and policy papers, with the aim of pushing for the adoption of a set of public policies that respond to Egypt's international obligations.

In his speech, Ayman Aqeel, a human rights expert, stressed the importance of communicating with all groups of society and the need to diversify the means of communication with citizens to ensure that the message reaches the largest possible audience, as Maat has adopted this approach through a set of innovative and artistic activities to raise awareness of human rights issues, including Producing a theatrical work, a set of webcast episodes, short animated films, and an introductory booklet for the UPR in Braille for people with visual impairment aiming to integrate them into awareness efforts, in addition to implementing a group of UPR convoys that visited border, marginalized and underserved areas in order to deliver Shedding light on the issues of these areas and contributing to finding solutions to them.

It is new to mention that the Eastern Youth Association for Development is one of the founding members of the alliance, which is the alliance that was established within the framework of a project The Universal Periodic Review as a Tool to Improve Public Policies during the Transition Which is implemented by the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights with funding from the European Union during 2016/2017.
