Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights has the honor to invite you to attend the theatrical work “Horus UPR”, on Thursday 26/05/2016 at seven in the evening at the theater of the Nile Hall for the Franciscans - Mohamed Farid Street - Downtown - in front of Banque Misr.
Maat Foundation is an Egyptian non-governmental organization registered in accordance with the NGO Law No. 84 of 2002 in 2008 under the Declaration No. 3166 of 2008 as amended with No. 7829 of 2010.
The Foundation currently holds the presidency of the Egyptian National Network of the Anna Lindh Euro-Mediterranean Foundation for the Dialogue between Cultures since June 2013, and the Foundation holds consultative status in the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations.
The universal periodic review is one of the United Nations human rights protection mechanisms that aims to improve the human rights situation. The review results in presenting a set of recommendations to the country under review to enhance the human rights situation in that country.
The theatrical work comes within the framework of the Maat Foundation’s efforts to enhance the role of the universal periodic review to improve public policies in Egypt. It is a human rights work that seeks to spread knowledge of the periodic review among the various groups of society in a simple comic framework.
The play will be honored by: -
- The late great artist / Salah Zulfikar, (his daughter, the human rights lawyer, receives the shield from Mona Zulfiqar), for all his artistic works, especially those advocating for women's rights.
- The great writer / Wahid Hamed, about all his artistic works, especially those related to combating torture.
- The brilliant artist / Bushra, on all of her artistic works, especially those related to combating violence against women.
