Call to participate in the cartoon competition and exhibition

In the context of its interest in raising societal awareness of the universal periodic review mechanism and the recommendations emanating from it, the role of these recommendations in improving human rights conditions, and given the importance of art in raising awareness and promoting respect for human rights.
Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights, in cooperation with the Egyptian Cartoon Association, announces a competition and exhibition for professional and amateur cartoonists to present caricatures dealing with one or more of the UPR recommendations accepted by the Egyptian government in the second cycle of the UPR - March 2015.
Maat also encourages those wishing to apply for the competition to download the “UPR” application for smartphones and read the information contained on it well for more information about the mechanism and the associated recommendations. It is available on the Android system and IOS:
Note that a technical committee will be formed to arbitrate the business and select 5 winners, where the first place winner will receive a financial prize of 5,000 pounds, and the second place winner will receive a financial prize of 3,000 pounds, and the third place winner will receive a financial prize of 2,000 pounds, and the fourth place will receive A financial prize of 1,000 pounds, and the last place will receive a prize of 750 pounds.
The sixth place winners of the tenth place will receive a shield of honor, and all participants will receive a certificate of appreciation. An exhibition of all submitted works will be held in a cultural center, noting that participation in the competition is open to Egyptian artists.
After getting a sufficient idea about the UPR and its related recommendations through the background paper attached to this invitation, those wishing to apply for the competition must send 5 cartoons related to the idea of the UPR or one or more of its recommendations, then hand them over or send them by mail to the headquarters The Egyptian Cartoon Association located at 47 El Maraghy St., Agouza, Giza, under name "Feather UPR“, Provided that the attached participation form is completed electronically, printed and sent with the cartoon works.
It is allowed to participate in the exhibition (outside the competition) for Egyptian, Arab and foreign artists. Works are sent via the following email: fawzymorsy2002@yahoo.com
Submissions must be at 300 dpi, as a JPEG file - and an A3 paper size
The jury is made up of artist Yasser Jaisa as chair, artist Samir Abdel-Ghani, member, and artist Fawzi Morsi, members.
