The Head of the Egyptian National Network Opens "Try to Communicate-Hawel Tethawer" performance on the Hosapeer theater

Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights in its capacity as the head of network of the Euro-Mediterranean Anna Lindh Foundation for the Dialogue Between Cultures opened the "Try to Communicate-Hawel Tethawer" performance on Alhosabeer theater, September 25th 2014, the performance was organized in the framework of the Network Strategic Development Scheme-Step 6 implemented by MAAT as the HON institution and generously supported by the Euro-Mediterranean Anna Lindh Foundation for the Dialogue Between Cultures. The step 6 activities implementation continues between November 2013 and October 2014, and composes a set of activities represented in two network meetings for the member/non-member organizations, in addition to the network activity entitled "Try to Communicate-Hawel Tethawer" campaign consisting a training workshop, development of a booklet and production of a theater performance. The campaign sought to enable the target group to identify the communication skills, tools and concepts, distinguish between dialogue, discussion, conflict and relative concepts, as well as promoting and spreading the culture of dialogue via an artistic simple form that would be likable to the public. When the performance sought to consolidate the culture of dialogue in the Egyptian community, along with utilizing the enlightening and developmental role of arts to serve one of the most important issues experienced by the Egyptian community at the moment. The performance starred by Bahteem Culture Palace Theater Group, and was directed by theater director. Usama Lotfy, more than 250 spectators attended the performance from different backgrounds and ages, when the head of network recognized each of: Mr. Hassan Saad, deputy editor at ElGomhoria newspaper and head of the arts page and Ms. Arwa Qadoura, director of Alhosbaire theater for their efforts in supporting the campaign logistically and in media. Hawel Tethawer is considered a fantasy, comedy, tragic, performance that addresses the meaning of dialogue, its importance, the necessity to accept the other despite religious and political differences. The play revolves about a theater writer who is asked by the director to write a play on dialogue and acceptance of the other, the writer tries to contact human development experts to find more about the issue, then the "dialogue genie" comes out of the old DVD and helps him to communicate with the theater group, when the writer decides to conduct a dialogue roundtable for the theater group to come out with ideas to write his script he seeks to write. The play is expected to be presented in different governorates during the coming period depending on self-efforts from Maat Foundation after the project comes to an end.
