A new president in Burundi

Evarist Ndayishimiye assumed the presidency of # of Burundi, after winning the May 20 elections. He was supposed to take office next August, but the Constitutional Court ruled to expedite his assumption of power after the death of the outgoing president, "# Nkurunziza"..

Maat Foundation believes that one of the most important challenges that he faces. # Ndayishime“# is working to change the bad mental image with which his predecessor was accused of gross violations of Human Rights # and the suppression of opposition, journalists and activists. The Foundation recommends that the human rights issue be placed on the list of priorities of the new president.
