The bilateral meeting also witnessed agreement between the two parties to implement the first joint activities in early 2018, which will focus on strengthening peace and security in Africa, and the high-level activity is expected to host a group of important and active leaders at the African level from among governmental organizations, regional organizations and civil society organizations.

And Maat, which launched the call to establish the alliance last September, coinciding with the International Day of Peace, had signed a set of joint cooperation protocols with a number of non-governmental organizations in several countries, including Rwanda, Tunisia, Jordan, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Greece, Italy, USA, Morocco, Lebanon, Kuwait, Yemen, Sudan, Sweden, Palestine, Iraq.
According to the protocol, both parties intend to implement activities aimed at achieving the goals of the coalition, which are to improve human rights conditions and confront attempts to undermine peace, violence, terror and intimidation, and to work effectively through international, regional and national forums and mechanisms to stop the spread of those practices that oppose human values and threaten global peace, and advocacy. To improve public policies related to peace support and countering violence, terrorism and extremism.
Governance for Africa is a non-governmental organization with an African mandate, and it is a member of the General Assembly of the Economic and Social Council of the African Union. The Foundation focuses on implementing projects and programs related to how the AU member states implement and comply with the AU tools, and strengthen the role of women and youth in supporting the Union’s agenda. Mr. Ayman Aqil, President of the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights stated that the signing of the bilateral cooperation protocols is the first operational step for establishing the coalition, which will be followed by holding the founding conference of the coalition at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva in the first quarter of 2018, where the statute will be approved and the board of trustees will be elected. He drew up the coalition action plan, and indicated that Maat's interest is currently focused on actively engaging in reform and policymaking processes at the African level.
As for Mr. Cyrus Munyapuranga Nkosi, Chief Executive Officer of Governance for Africa, he stated that the Agenda 2063 will be among the priorities of joint cooperation, and that the Constitutive Act of the African Union, the vision of the African Union, the eight priority areas of the declaration of the celebration of the fiftieth anniversary of the establishment of the African Union, African aspirations for the year 2063 The regional and continental frameworks and national plans for Egypt and Rwanda will be based on the development of the annual work plans for bilateral cooperation.
The two parties agreed to exchange experiences with regard to international and regional mechanisms for protecting human rights and promoting peoples' rights, as Maat has long experience in dealing with international mechanisms to protect human rights of the United Nations, while Governance for Africa has experience in dealing with African mechanisms to protect human rights.
