"Aqeel" International monitoring of elections does not mean interference in the internal affairs of the state

 Ayman Aqil, head of the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights and the official spokesperson for the joint international mission to monitor the elections, said that the Egyptian state welcomes international follow-up on the elections, explaining that the Supreme Elections Committee organizes how to obtain permits for international organizations to follow the elections, adding that the committee has set conditions for these Organizations how to obtain permits.

“Aqeel” added during his interview in Parliament 2015 program, which is shown on MBC Masr 2 channel, that the Maat Foundation, which he heads, is following the elections as an international observer in more than one country, stressing that international follow-up is important in any country, and that this follow-up is not considered an interference in the internal affairs of the state. Rather, it gives international legitimacy to the elections.

Aqeel welcomed the international organizations monitoring elections in Egypt, on the condition that they follow up according to the law and procedures and that they do not enter into the sovereign work of the Egyptian state, stressing that if there are violations and violations of the election law by the candidates or the supreme committee supervising the elections, the organizations have the right to monitor them. He pointed out that the international mission to monitor the elections sends these violations to the Supreme Committee supervising the elections.
