Aqil: Israel must immediately stop targeting Palestinian civilians

Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights condemns the bombing by the Israeli occupation forces of several sites in the vicinity of the Gaza Strip, as the bombing targeted east of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip and the Shejaiya neighborhood in the east of the Strip, as well as the Syrian capital Damascus at dawn on Tuesday, November 12, 2019, killing 21 people In addition to the 69 wounded, including 23 children, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health data so far, in addition to the damage caused to a number ofHouses and infrastructure as a result of the bombing, in addition to the Israeli occupation forces ’decision to close all crossings in the Gaza Strip, which is a flagrant violation of human rights.

The Foundation stresses that such practices represent a flagrant violation of all international norms and covenants, stressing its position rejecting the targeting of Palestinian civilians and its rejection of any measures that infringe on the rights of the Palestinian people to life, calling for the necessity to respect the right of individuals to life, liberty and to feel safe in accordance with Article Third of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

For his part, Ayman Aqil, head of the Maat Foundation for Peace, called on the Israeli occupation forces to immediately stop targeting civilians, calling for the application of the rules of international humanitarian law and the four Geneva Conventions that completely prohibit the targeting of civilians, stressing the need for the immediate intervention of the international community to stop these blatant attacks, demanding the Secretary-General of the United Nations By standing up to its legal responsibilities towards targeting civilians and putting an end to these violations.
