For the second time in less than a year, the Ministry of Social Solidarity continues its unjustified intransigence with the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights, which insists on working under the provisions of Law 84 of 2002 and adhering to the limits of legitimacy, yet the Ministry of Social Solidarity and its Minister Mrs. Ghada Wali insist on besieging and punishing legitimate organizations To abide by the law

The Maat Foundation had submitted a request to the Social Solidarity Department in Dar Al-Salam to approve the financing of the project “funded by the Anna Linda Foundation for the Dialogue of Cultures (hosted by Egypt, and the Egyptian state contributes to the payment of part of its annual budget), on January 14, 2016, and it was exported to the Solidarity Directorate in Cairo on January 14, 2016. The same day, except that the project did not reach the Ministry yet, and whenever we contacted the Solidarity Directorate in Cairo, the response would be “the competent employee on a mission or on leave.”

As a result, the Foundation submitted a complaint to the Office of the Minister of Social Solidarity, bearing No. 3, on March 3, 2016, but we did not receive any response despite the passage of about a month on the complaint.

The Maat Foundation believes that what is happening in the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the arguments for delaying and procrastinating in response to requests for approval of its funded projects reveal the size of the imbalance that the ministry suffers, and the administrative failure that the current minister bears with the result, and the ministry with their current actions towards legitimate organizations, including Maat, sends a message It is extremely passive to society and to the world, and the Egyptian state appears in the image of a state that does not differentiate between organizations operating under the framework of the law and others operating outside it.

It is worth noting that the same situation was repeated before with the Maat Foundation in almost the same details, which led to the delay in obtaining approval for one of its projects for a full 12 months.

The Maat Foundation raises the matter to the Prime Minister and to the President of the Republic, and requests an investigation into the ministry’s position regarding dealing with the requests of the Maat Foundation, which never depart from the limits of Law 84 of 2002, and the rights it granted to the organizations.
