The training camp comes in the framework of the activities of the program "Responsive Decentralization for human Rights" implemented by Maat in cooperation with Hanns Seidel Foundation. It seeks to improve the conditions of local administration in Egypt via developing capacity of community actors and advocating decentralization, along with enabling women in the target governorates to develop community-based initiatives under decentralization.
40 young female actors from NGOs, governmental institutions, media institutions, and student unions in Greater Cairo, Beni Suef, Gharbia, Alexandria, and Port Said participated in the training camp.

The training camp aimed at raising the participants' capacities on related topics to producing community initiatives and decentralization, the training programme included three key components including; decentralization, good local governance, and local system in Egypt; tools and methods to monitor the needs of local communities and problem tree analysis; and drafting, marketing, following-up, and evaluating logical community initiatives.

The participants in the training camp were able to develop five important initiatives. The activists from the Gharbia Governorate developed an initiative related to the environmental field, which aimed to improve the level of “environmental cleanliness” in one of the Samanoud Center villages, through awareness campaigns and waste recycling.

Activists from Beni Suef governorate have also developed an initiative related to the health field, which is the initiative to "improve the level of health services" in one of the villages of the Ihnasia Center, by raising the capabilities of health workers, educating citizens about their health rights, and supporting communication between providers and recipients of health services.

Port Said governorate developed a cultural initiative entitled "Paying Attention to Port Said History" through awareness via documentaries.

Cairo governorate developed a developmental service initiative entitled "Ishraqa" by focusing on poor families in Helwan, via linking between the concerned associations and target groups, as well as providing financial assistance for those families.

Alexandria governorate developed a cultural initiative entitled "Protect Yourself and Others" to address illegal buildings issue, through awareness, illegal buildings monitoring campaigns, and connecting with consulting offices and engineering departments.

It's worth mentioning that the training camp is one of four successive camps that would be concluded by choosing some of the prominent initiatives and presenting them for potential donors, companies, government agencies, and non-governmental organizations to be adopted and supported.
