Within the framework of the integrated protection project for the families of prisoners and detainees, Maat received 27 in-kind grants for families to start income-generating projects

Within the framework of the philosophy of reintegration and rehabilitation of marginalized groups as an entry point to achieve societal peace, Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights, the day before yesterday, Tuesday, January 13, 2014, held a distribution ceremony for “27” in-kind grants to the families of prisoners and detainees, graduates of vocational and vocational training programs and project management training, who were rehabilitated On the implementation of productive income-generating activities in the project of integrated protection for the families of prisoners and detainees, which is implemented by Maat in cooperation with the Swiss Foundation Drosos “Egypt Office”.
The in-kind grants represented the supplies and equipment needed to set up small income-generating projects, which benefited 27 women and youth within these families, who would start practicing the productive activities of small commercial enterprises, sewing and detailing, maintenance of electronic devices, electricity works, and marble cutting.
The in-kind grants were distributed to the beneficiaries during the ceremony, by Professor Ashraf Eid, Director of Programs at the Drosos Foundation “Misr Office”, and Professor Ayman Aqeel, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights, in addition to the work team of the integrated protection project for the families of prisoners and detainees at the Drosos Foundation.
It is worth noting that the integrated protection project for the families of prisoners and detainees aims to improve the living conditions of the families of prisoners and detainees in 6 regions in Cairo and Giza, and so far more than 3000 individuals with 600 families have benefited from it, and the project provides an integrated package of developmental services in the economic fields, increasing income, training and rehabilitation For the labor market, psychological and social support, legal advice, as well as improving societal attitudes towards these families.
It is noteworthy that the in-kind grant component benefits about 60 graduates of training programs that take place inside Maat or in cooperation with specialized training centers in various fields.
