Maat Organizes the First Entertainment and Educational Camp for Youth in the Framework of Integration and Rehabilitation Project

In its efforts to rehabilitate and reintegrate marginalized groups in the Egyptian community, Maat for Peace, Development and Human Rights continued the implementation of "Rehabilitation and Integration" Project in cooperation with the Swiss Foundation Drosos.
The foundation organized an educational camp for the youth of (Imbaba, Boulaq El Dakrour, Atfeeh, Al Khalifa, El Basateen and Dar El Salam, and Helwan and Ma'sara) between Thursday June 20th and Sunday June 23rd, 2013, in the attendance of social workers, psychologists, and project team.
The camp targeted youth between 14-18 years old and lasted for three days, it included prisoners and detainees families' members and normal families' children in order to overcome psychological barriers and enable the families of prisoners and detainees to be involved in community activities.
An entertainment and educational program was prepared by social workers and psychologists, it started by introduction sessions between the team and participants who were divided into three groups, each group was introduced to the social worker who would accompany them during the camp along with setting the camp rules, the camp depended on playing group educational games and debates on youth public issues, a binge was organized every night by the youth, along with organizing a boat trip, and a closing ceremony was organized to celebrate the youth and offer them some gifts.
Those activities built connections, developed positive behaviors, and helped in renouncing violence between the youth, by the end of camp, a set of positive and approved educational values were established including; group work, communication, self-confidence, honesty, and integration in the community.
