On the fourth anniversary of the Egyptian revolution, Maat demands documentation of the Brotherhood’s crimes, a complete investigation into the martyrdom of Shaima al-Sabbagh and the amendment of the protest law

Yesterday passed the fourth anniversary of the glorious 25 January 2011 revolution, in which the great Egyptian people four years ago wrote a new chapter in the history of humanity with their unity, peace and determination to obtain their legitimate rights, and the blood of their youth paid dearly for dreams of democracy, freedom, dignity, development and the rule of law. Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights believes that the events that witnessed yesterday's revolution were a “departure” from all the values established by January 25 and its second wave on June 30, 2013, and in this regard the Foundation wishes to clarify the following: Media affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, whether television channels or social media pages, as well as the foundation’s follow-up to the demonstrations organized by the group and its allies in various regions in Cairo, Giza, Alexandria, Beheira and some other governorates. We see that “al-Salamiya” was absent, and violence and incitement to it was strongly present. In the scene, perhaps the speeches of the leaders of the group's media scene during January 24, January 25, as well as the dozens of attacks on public facilities and police personnel, and the dozens of bombs that were planted, the most prominent evidence that the group is completely far from peaceful, and is determined to "bypass" the will of the Egyptians by force And still live illusions of restoring false legitimacy that the Egyptian people dropped from them a year and a half ago from now. 2- The Foundation calls on all government agencies and civil society organizations to document the crimes of the Brotherhood that were committed yesterday and publish them to local and international public opinion to uncover the cover for the group. The Foundation also calls on members of the group who still believe in this country to review themselves and their positions, and return to the ranks of the peaceful and honest opposition, They practice politics within the framework of the legitimacy of the constitution and the law. 3- The Foundation affirms that the practice of violence, the planting of explosives in the fields, establishments and public facilities, and the threat to the lives of the safe, is a behavior that has nothing to do with political practice, and makes the state require, in return, to use force to protect public and private facilities and to fulfill its duty to preserve the right of citizens to a safe life. 4- The Foundation supports the steps taken by the Attorney General Counselor regarding the opening of a rapid investigation into the martyrdom of leftist activist Shaima Al-Sabbagh on January 24, 2015 in Talaat Harb Square, and calls for the public opinion to be involved in the results of the investigations, and to uncover, expose and hold accountable the wrong, regardless of his location or affiliation, especially All the evidences confirm that the demonstration held by some members of the Socialist Popular Alliance Party during which the martyr lost her life. 5- While the Foundation recognizes the state’s right to take legal measures to regulate the right to peaceful protest, and to strongly confront any deviation from peace during the demonstrations, it demands at the same time to reconsider the current protest law, especially as it does not enjoy the consensus of political forces and human rights organizations. Judicial rulings questioning its constitutionality. In conclusion, the Foundation affirms that the practice of violence and murder and incitement to it, denies any political faction its right to political existence, and makes it outside the framework of legitimacy, patriotism, and that mixing between those who practice violence and those who adhere to peace as an approach to their political opposition is not in the interest of building a civil state The democracy that the Egyptians want after two great revolutions.
