On the International Day of Commemoration and Honor of the Victims of Terrorism, Maat mourns hundreds of victims of terrorism in Africa

Aqeel: Qatar is using support for investments in poor areas in Africa as a cover for its financing of armed terrorist groups

I hope we all think about the destinies that have been changed forever by terror. Let us commit ourselves to prove to the victims that they are not alone and that the international community is in solidarity with them wherever they are. In their quest for recovery and their thirst for justice, they speak for all of us. ” These are the words said by the UN Secretary-General to shed light on the devastating effects of terrorism, and in the same footsteps the Maat Foundation has repeatedly condemned terrorism, terrorist groups and the countries that support them.

As Maat as a member of the General Assembly of the Economic, Social and Cultural Council (ECOSOC) in the African Union and the representative of North Africa in the group of major organizations in Africa, the Foundation wishes to shed light on the victims of terrorist operations in Africa. The African continent is one of the continents most vulnerable to terrorist attacks due to several internal and external factors that have led To turn African lands into a battlefield between armed groups that are supported by states by providing money and weapons and aiming to benefit from conflicts at the expense of innocent blood and destroy the future of African peoples.

Ayman Aqil stated that in the month of August, which includes the International Day of Commemoration in Memory of the Victims of Terrorism, there were found about 150 dead or more victims of violent terrorist operations, in addition to hundreds of wounded, who were physically and psychologically affected, amidst silence and ignorance by the international community, which leads to the intensification of these attacks day after day. . Aqeel added that standing by the victims of terrorism is a very dangerous matter, because treating them and reintegrating them is to protect them and society as a whole from becoming terrorists in the future with the aim of revenge.

On the International Day of Remembrance and Reverence for the Victims of Terrorism, the Maat Foundation recommends the United Nations system to pay more attention to the victims on the African continent who are denied access to relief forces, aid teams, and media coverage of their cause. It also recommends creating an effective mechanism to stop support for armed groups by countries that use inhuman and illegal means for investigation. Its interests, such as Qatar, which tamper with the hopes of the African people for a better future by promising them to make investments and provide aid, but in reality it supports terrorist groups and does not care about the high number of victims of youth, women and children.
