In light of the celebration of International Women's Day ... a look here at Libyan women, please

The world celebrates Women's Day on the 8th of March every year. Statistics in Libya this year announce the displacement of about 200,000 women and girls due to the conflict, in addition to about 18,000 women and girls, who are registered as refugees and asylum seekers.

While everyone claims to work to promote equal rights and opportunities between women and men, these women are simply struggling to find shelter in light of the conflict in Libya.

The fifth goal of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals states, “To achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls,” which needs more efforts to achieve it in Libya.

Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights affirmed in its project: “Strengthening the role of youth in peace and security in the southern Mediterranean,” and reaffirms the need to activate UN Security Council Resolution No. 1325 on women, peace and security Which acknowledges the disproportionate impact of conflict on women and girls, and advocates for the inclusion of women and their views in peace processes.

Maat Foundation calls on all parties in Libya to establish sustainable peace with the full participation of women at the decision-making levels, to achieve the fifth goal of the Sustainable Development Goals, and to implement the provisions of Resolution 1325 of the Security Council, so that these numbers of displaced women, refugees and asylum seekers do not increase in Libya.
