Resolution of the Human Rights Council on racism

The Human Rights Council, at its 43rd session, unanimously adopted a resolution strongly condemning the # racist and discriminatory practices committed by law enforcement forces against Africans and people of African descent. The decision, which was adopted unanimously and without a vote, follows an urgent debate in the council after the killing of African American # George Floyd, at the request of the countries of the African Group.

Meanwhile, Fionwala Ni Ulan, the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the promotion and protection of human rights and fundamental freedoms in the context of combating terrorism, condemned the US position, and expressed her deep concern “about a recent statement issued by the Attorney General of #-United States describing the so-called“ Antifa ”movement and others Of the anti-fascist activists, as "internal terrorists" and considered that this undermines the right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly in the country.

Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights recommends expediting the implementation of this newly adopted resolution, and emphasizing the implementation of the main pledges made to combat racism at the 2002 Durban World Conference to combat racism, racial discrimination, xenophobia and related intolerance.
