Saturday 1 September; Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights held a press conference to evaluate the 38th session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva and present the activity plan of the Maat Foundation and its international alliance during the 39th session of the Human Rights Council, which will be held during the period from 10 to 28 September 2018.

Researchers working for the Maat Foundation spoke at the conference and presented the most important papers, reports and seminars that have been implemented.

Among the most important reports presented were those related to the human rights situation in the Arab region and Africa. As well as the report on acts of intimidation and intimidation practiced by some countries against human rights organizations, such as Qatar. The Foundation is participating in the 39th session with a written intervention that draws attention to an important aspect of the challenges that civil society organizations face during their dealings with UN agencies that need to be considered with consideration and the search for radical solutions to them. Including the use of media platforms to distort the images of institutions working in the field of human rights and pressure them.

As well as a report on the violations committed by Israel in the Palestinian territories, which have struck the wall, mechanisms for protecting human rights, including the Human Rights Council, in the absence of a delegation of the State of Israel during its universal periodic review session, which followed the withdrawal of the United States from the Council.

Ayman Aqil stressed in his speech the importance of cooperation with international mechanisms and presented the Maat plan of action and its alliance during the 39th session of the Human Rights Council, which is represented in providing written interventions related to sustainable development as well as workers' rights, combating contemporary slavery and the use of mercenaries as one of the images violating human rights. In addition to a report on the practices of the Houthis and Iran and their impact on the humanitarian situation in Yemen.

In a dialogue about the report issued by the Commission for Human Rights on the situation of human rights in Yemen, Aqeel presented the most important things mentioned in the reports of some Yemeni organizations, as well as the report of the fact-finding committee issued by the Haq Organization for Rights and Freedoms that talks about the human rights situation in Yemeni prisons as well as terrorist operations The victims and many recommendations were made to improve the human rights situation in Yemen.

Maat Foundation will hold three seminars on the sidelines of the 39th session related to models of national institutions in conflict areas such as Yemen, Syria and Libya, a seminar on climate change and finally, presenting the role of the African Commission on Human and Peoples' Rights to promote the state of human rights in Africa.

The Foundation's delegation will hold official interviews with a group of diplomatic missions, including Canada and Sweden, and with UN officials and special procedures mandate-holders.
