Maat Foundation expressly denounces the Qatari island's support for terrorist entities

Aqeel: The international community must address all kinds of financial and logistical support that Doha provides to terrorist elements

Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights expresses its strong condemnation of the media tools approach of the "Qatari Al-Jazeera network" in adopting destructive and supportive policies for terrorist entities, to the extent that it recently allowed terrorist elements to write through its blogs known as "Al-Jazeera Blogs", without censorship or accountability, and this has been evident. Clearly, Al Jazeera blogs published an article on May 14, entitled Hisham Ashmawy ... the other side of choice. A member of the Salafi Front, Mustafa Al-Badri, who has been on terrorist lists since 2017, and who traveled to Syria several times to teach the jurisprudence of jihad to what is known as the Free Army Brigades.

Maat denounced what was stated in the article of clear and explicit support for terrorist figures that the article mentioned as heroes of resistance, when the article described the selection series explicitly as “dealing with lies and deliberate distortion of a number of prominent Islamic figures, such as the virtuous Sheikh Rifai Sorour, as well as other personalities who took the path of armed resistance against the Egyptian regime. Like the officer Emad Abdel Hamid and his colleague Hisham Ashmawi, who the author of the article had mercy on them (may God have mercy on them all) ”. According to the article published on the Al-Jazeera blogs, where the article narrated the biography of Hisham Ashmawy as if he was a hero, and the author of the article had mercy on a group of terrorists, who lost the lives of a large number of army, police and civilians.

Maat described the Qatari Al-Jazeera’s apology for publishing the article and removing it from its websites and electronic pages, as the result of the denouncing reactions to the article, which confirmed Doha’s involvement in providing media platforms for terrorist elements, adding that it is a fake apology that does not erase the fact of Doha’s involvement in supporting terrorist entities. Mustafa Al-Badri One of the writers who publish their ideas on Al-Jazeera blogs on an ongoing basis, as the same blog previously published a report by a member of the Salafi Front “Ahmed Maulana” entitled The Legend of the Thunderbolt Officer Hisham Ashmawy, in which he considered Ashmawy one of the jihadist leaders, and considered his terrorist attacks in Egypt as military operations against President Sisi's regime, this is how Al Jazeera allows describing terrorism on its electronic platforms when it comes to hostile political regimes.

Maat Foundation indicated that, despite international efforts and endeavors to curb the growth of the phenomenon of terrorism and combat it, Al-Jazeera continues to spread extremist ideas to terrorists, defend them either through its programs or host a list of terrorists and provide a safe haven for them by granting them long hours of broadcasting on its screen to spread their ideas. That incites hatred and violence. This was not the first time that Al-Jazeera published ideas supporting terrorism. During the last period, the Qatari network hosted Abu Muhammad al-Julani, the leader of the Al-Qaeda-affiliated Al-Nusra Front, and in 2013 Al-Jazeera broadcasted an audio recording of the new Al-Qaeda leader Ayman Al-Zawahiri that included continuing work under The Emirate of ISIS also included a number of directives to the leader of ISIS terrorist “Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi” and “Abu Muhammad al-Julani,” the leader of the Al-Nusra Front, as he invited them to cooperate and reject the dispute between them.

The Qatari channel was also keen to host Tariq Al-Zomor and Aboud Al-Zomor despite their involvement in many acts of violence, especially their participation in the assassination of the late President Anwar Sadat, in addition to Tariq Al-Zomor being one of the most prominent leaders of the extremist jihad organization. Al-Jazeera broadcast a video while it was communicating with a terrorist in Syria celebrating his car bombing and detonation in front of an institution in Syria. Al-Jazeera also refuses to name terrorism against ISIS and other terrorist movements such as Jabhat al-Nusra or al-Qaeda, and when al-Jazeera mentions ISIS, it says “Islamic State” instead of the word ISIS, and it refuses to even mention the word terrorist, and they use that term In an attempt to legitimize the terrorist organization ISIS in front of the Arab viewer and reader.

Ayman Aqil, President of Maat Foundation, described the practices of the Qatari island as a natural result of the continued international silence towards Doha providing a safe haven and providing all means of financial and logistical support to terrorist elements, and the interference of media channels in the affairs of certain countries with the aim of destabilizing these countries. Terrorist elements to express their ideas on their electronic platforms, and even to defend other terrorist elements, with their confessions proven to have committed terrorist massacres, is not surprising, insofar as it calls the world's attention to the reality of Doha's destructive policies in the region, to the extent that it seeks to justify terrorism and be merciful. Against terrorist elements.

Aqeel called for the need to address all types of financial and logistical support that Doha provides to terrorist elements, pursuant to UN Security Council Resolution 1373 of 2001, regarding refraining from providing any form of explicit or implicit support to entities or persons involved in terrorist acts, in addition to the agreement. The International Organization for the Suppression of the Financing of Terrorism, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly resolution in December 1999.
