The world needs an international agreement that recognizes the danger of terrorism to human rights and contributes to draining its sources

Black terrorism has returned to its ugly face again on the European continent through the crime of "running over" in the French city of Nice, which killed 80 and injured about 200 others, a few months after the terrorist crime that targeted Brussels airport and before that, two crimes in the French capital, Paris.

The Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights expresses its sincere condolences and solidarity with the French people and the families of the victims at these critical moments, and stresses that the frequency of events has come to indicate beyond any doubt that terrorism has become the biggest challenge to human rights and the values of civilization and civilization, and no longer distinguishes between There is no way to escape from this imminent danger that targets humanity without solidarity, solidarity and coordination of efforts.

The Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights reminds that terrorism cannot be attributed to a specific religion or sect. It is an organized crime outside the scope of religions and their tolerant teachings that sanctify human life and exalt its value and preserve the sanctity of the soul. Perhaps the most prominent evidence for that is that terrorism What struck France yesterday is the same terrorism that targeted the holy sites near the Mosque of the Prophet Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia a few days ago, and it is also the same that has targeted innocent civilians, policemen and the army in Egypt during the past three years.

Hence, the Maat Foundation reiterates its call that it adopted years ago to deal with the phenomenon of terrorism with the importance it deserves and the danger it poses, in an integrative context, and under a comprehensive international umbrella, which requires the following measures:

1- The international system, whether at the level of the Security Council, the Human Rights Council, or the United Nations Assembly, must adopt international legislation (resolutions and agreements) that uncover terrorist organizations and operations, organize operations to combat it, and place countries before their moral and political responsibilities in the need to confront it firmly and forcefully, where Maat Foundation believes that the world is in dire need of a binding international agreement to criminalize terrorism and recognize the priority of its danger to respecting human rights, and to hold accountable groups and countries that provide safe havens, media platforms and financial and political support for its perpetrators.

2 - Not being satisfied with military and security solutions, the need to confront terrorism and dry up its financing sources, and not to differentiate between groups and organizations that practice terrorism, incite it, or justify its crimes, in a public or hidden manner.

3- Stopping the policy of double standards in historical conflict issues, which are sometimes used as an excuse to commit terrorist crimes. In this regard, it is particularly indicated the need to reach just and lasting solutions to the Palestinian issue based on respecting the right of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on the territories of June 4, 1967, with Jerusalem as its capital Al-Sharif, and standing against state terrorism practiced by Israel on a daily basis, in full view of the world.

4- International human rights organizations should pay more attention to the issue of terrorism, reveal the countries that harbor terrorists, and stop making justifications for groups and organizations that claim peace while supporting terrorism and violence and calling for it in their literature, speeches and jurisprudential theories.
