Maat Foundation for Peace, Development and Human Rights has submitted a communication to the Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial executions, Mrs. Ms. Agnes Callamard

 The United Nations Special Rapporteur on the issue of torture, Mr. Prof. Nils Melzer About the death of a Palestinian citizen inside Turkish prisons as a result of torture during his interrogation.

On April 3, 2019, “Zaki Mubarak Yusef” - a Palestinian citizen and his colleague, “Samer Samih Shaban”, disappeared in Turkey. Three weeks later, the Turkish police were forced to announce that they had arrested Zaki Mubarak and Samir Samih and placed them in solitary confinement cells in Silivri Prison (bad Reputation) near Istanbul, and they were accused of communicating for the benefit of the United Arab Emirates without presenting any evidence, which was confirmed by Zaki Mubarak's lawyer, who also confirmed that he would be released in the objection hearing on April 30 and since this date the accused have been completely blocked and has not been completed Enabling their families, their lawyers, or even the embassy of their country to communicate with them, so that after less than one week (and two days before the protest session), the Turkish authorities announce that the citizen Zaki Mubarak Yusuf committed suicide by hanging himself.

According to multiple evidences and evidence obtained by Maat Foundation from Zaki Mubarak's lawyer and his family, it immediately filed a communication with the Special Rapporteur on extrajudicial executions and the Special Rapporteur on the issue of torture, as there are suspicions that Zaki Mubarak was subjected to torture and physical liquidation by the Turkish authorities. 
In its report, the Foundation drew attention to the possibility of his colleague “Samer” facing the same fate, which requires taking the necessary measures and moving to open an investigation into the death of “Zaki Mubarak” and protect a colleague.

Ayman Aqil, the head of the Maat Foundation for Peace, called for the need to open a rapid and independent investigation in which international and international parties participate in the incident of the death of the Palestinian citizen “Zaki Mubarak Yusef” and the immediate intervention by the international bodies to prevent the exposure of the accused “Samer Samih Shaaban” who is currently in the prisons of Turkey from being exposed Destiny.
